The uPVC sliding door is yet another option to the French door, and the folding sliding door. Sliding doors do not fold back but simply slide to one side, one behind the other, and are best suited in sets of 2, 3 or 4 leaf. If a set of 3 is the choice due to the width of the opening then this installation will consist of a single door, and 2 sliding doors. A 4 door unit installation will consist of 2 fixed panels and 2 sliding door panels, which can be pushed to either side of the opening. One advantage of sliding doors is to allow you to partly open the aperture, whilst maintain some degree of shade and shelter.
Large glass panels allow for maximum natural light infiltration into your room and gives you a wide view area over the outside. This makes them the ideal choice for openings adjacent a patio, a decked area or a swimming pool. The door panels glide effortlessly on double rollers along a stainless steel track making them extremely easy to open and close. To reduce condensation, trickle ventilation can also be provided to help air circulate within the room. uPVC sliding doors look especially attractive on modern properties, and extensions.
Glass and security
In the interest of safety, laminated glass panels can be selected for glazing our uPVC sliding doors, which are also energy efficient, helping to keep heating bills low by maintaining your room’s ambient air temperature. The doors have multiple locking points, and a built in ‘anti jacking’ system that ensures the door cannot be lifted off the slider rail from the outside
